Lisa Denney is a textile designer and mixed-media artist living in Chattanooga, TN. She has a BA in Art from West Georgia University and over 15 years of design experience in the area rug industry. A jill of all trades, she likes painting, drawing, costume design, sculpture and fabrication, mehendi (henna), home fashions, and getting her “nerd” on.
“All my life, not much has turned out exactly the way I planned. It’s just happened. I left my studies in biology to take an art class one semester, and I never went back. I followed my heart and it’s worked out just fine so far. A design job at Shaw Industries brought me to the Chattanooga area. The closing of the rug division in 2014 felt like a mortal blow to my design career, but looking back it allowed me to grow both professionally and personally and gave me the courage to start my own studio for doing my own art and sharing with others.”
She continues at a day job of rug design, as well as making paper clay ornaments and dabbling in painting. She plans on designing and making art pillows and possibly lamps.
Lisa is available to host and facilitate private arts and craft parties in her studio, Studio4K for birthdays and other special occasions.
