Open Studio Nights: Spring is in the Air

Come experience a glimpse into a working artist studio during Open Studio Nights at Chattanooga WorkSpace on Friday, April 6th from 5:30 – 8:30 pm. The artists currently in residence at Chattanooga WorkSpace will have their studios open for everyone to explore, purchase local art and see their newest creative works on display. This is a free family-friendly event.
The featured artists in the WorkSpace Gallery will be: MJ Whitt with Fired Up Fused Glass, Colleen Williams, Bethany Lauren Wilson with Bela Begonias, Lisa Phillips Denney with Studio 4K Design, Steven LLorca with Steven LLorca’s Art Gallery, McKenzie Stephens McClure, Meredith Middleton with Meredith Middleton Jewelry Designs, Janet Campbell Bradley, Khloé Noel Jackson, and Danita Keel.
In Order to Bloom: A Study of Flowers a show by Jaime Lynn Barks with The Art of Jaime Barks will be the featured in the ArtSpace Gallery on the 2nd floor along with guest artist Liza Greever with Fox & Fern.
There will be live music by Rick Rushing III with Rick Rushing & the Blues Strangers & Caleb Gaw. Along with lots of new guest artist including: Melissa Meeks with Paper Truly, Tiana Saul, Cailey Gino with Southern Top Stitch, Lorena Bowers with Fin the Weaver, and Lauren VanArmanwith Soul Focus House.
Delicious hors d’oeuvres will be served by Dish T’Pass Catering Co.

In Order to Bloom: A Study of Flowers

Learn to Weave: A Live Demo

Visit Lisa Denney in Studio 4E during Open Studio Nights: Spring is in the Air Event at Chattanooga WorkSpace and learn to help finish a flower weaving. This year long project began during the local artist festival at the Chattanooga Market and has continued for the past year. Lisa has been using it as a teaching loom. Come get a short mini lesson on basic weaving and add to the loom.

Gouache for Journaling and Handlettering

No need for expensive watercolor or mixed media paper with these opaque watercolor paints. Come learn and play as we introduce you to painting and brush lettering with gouache.
All supplies included. Attendees will walk away with their own set of gouache paints, two paintbrushes and newly completed artwork.

Love & Logic for Parents of School-Aged Children

This course is designed to empower parents of school-aged children to balance their households to avoid the push and tug of the parent/child relationship. Understand Yourself: The Big 5 Aspects of Personality

This course is designed to facilitate a better understanding of how personality traits play an integral role in our lives. Known within the field of psychology, the “Five Factor Model” is a model based on general language often used to describe personality traits. Using the acronym “OCEAN”, assessments based on the Factor Five Model explore the most fundamental basis of our unique personalities by assessing the five following traits:
1. Openness to experience
By gaining clarity on where we fall within each personality category, we come to understand ourselves in relation to the interpersonal and professional relationships we cultivate over time. Our class will begin with a general overview of personality, the five traits listed above, and the importance of understanding our personal traits in context to the world around. We will implement the use of a 100-question assessment, asking a variety of questions pertaining to personal experience. The assessment, which takes about twenty minutes to complete, will automatically generate results to you in a printable format.
Please note: bring your own computer to fill out the assessment, which costs an additional $10. Each participant will pay for the assessment on their own during the class.
Watercolor on Vintage Book Pages Class

Learn about painting with watercolor on non-traditional mediums. Each student will complete two book page paintings. All supplies included. Welcome to painters of all levels.

Blue Dog Project 2.0: Mixed Media Pets Workshop
Saturday | April 28th | 12:00pm – 3:00pm | $45
Blue dog reboot!
Participants will create there own work of modern art based on their pet using patterned paper and acrylic on a 12×16 cradled wood panel that will be ready to hang needing no frame. Make one for yourself or as a gift. A fee of 45$ includes: pre-sketched wood art panel, paints, patterned papers, glue. All levels welcome as this project can easily be adapted to your skills and vision.
Why I’ve changed the class? Well, I want you to come away with a better experience. We’ll be using scrapbook paper and wrapping papers. The canvas will be a hard surface that prevents wrinkling or bowing. And, you’ll have 3 hours instead of 2.
**better materials-more time – better results**
**You will need to submit photos of your pet via email after registration, and I will help you choose the best one. You will need to have one that is the face and chest. Whole body can be cropped. 1 pet per photo/art piece. Extra pre-sketched panels may be purchased for 25$ that you make take with you to do on your own. It’s no problem! so you don’t have to play favorites. Last day to submit your photo will be April 21st.
**Unless discussed ahead of time 1 spot = 1 person. This class will be held in the studio, so space is limited to 6 spots. I can accommodate one “team” of parent/child (over 8).
**Refunds up to 7 days prior to the class. Within a week of class, if you find you can not make it, you will need to arrange to come pick up your sketched panel and papers.

Make and Take: Woven Rain Cloud
Sunday | April 29th | 1:00pm-3:30pm | $43
In this workshop, you will create your own small “rain cloud” woven wall art. No experience is needed as you will be learning the 2 most basic of weaving techniques: tabby (over under) and rya fringe on a pre-warped homemade frame loom.
Class fee of 40$ covers: fibers and dowels.
Loom and any tools will be available to use, so there’s no need to bring anything but your creativity!
White or grey cloud fiber. “Rain” may be blue, natural, purple, or rainbow. You may email me your preference after registration.
Refunds: Should you not be able to make it, you may receive a refund up to 7 days before class. Within a week of class, you may arrange to pick up your materials in a “kit” form or choose to apply the fee towards a future class. I’ll gladly work with you because stuff happens!
